You may remember Helen & Stuart from their pre-shoot?
Well the wedding was quite sometime ago back in the end of July…… when the weather was warm and sun was shinning!
Okay – so the sun wasn’t exactly shinning on this day, but everything about this wedding certainly was!
The wedding ceremony was held at the local Church in the picture perfect village of Stoke Gabriel, down in South Devon. The Church looked stunning, and was filled to the brim with flowers and people – and with possibly the jolliest vicar I’ve ever come across! ……he was so relaxed too about the photography (which is always a bonus!) …he literally didn’t mind me doing anything during the service. Obviously I’m always discrete and quiet as I can be, but I was sat virtually the other side of the choir, with a great front facing view of Helen & Stuart…… and I’m so pleased I was too – as I don’t think I’ve seen such a happy bride as Helen was during the service… she had a smile so big – it couldn’t help but make you smile away too, albeit mine was hidden behind the camera! ……I love smiling so much – I reckon we should do lots more of it! …it makes you feel great!
So check-out that shear delight & joy of a smile below – and give yourself a big smile too!
During the ceremony – Stuart, decided he was so eager to get married, that when the vicar said – ‘Do you take… ‘ before he could even finish the rest of the sentence, Stuart pronounced… ‘I do!’ – this literally had the whole of the congregation in hysterics with the vicar laughing away too. Obviously nerves – but very funny & sweet never the less.
After the ceremony we popped down to mill-pond to capture a few photos of them, and then we all headed to Helen’s family farm she grew up on – Waddeton Barton.
I love this farm, and loved it from when I first set eyes on it during a visit for the pre-shoot. So many dis-used farm buildings – it’s a photographers dream! …But this day wasn’t about me – it’s about them, as every wedding should be! The drinks reception was held in the garden with a marque in the apple orchard for the wedding breakfast. The setting couldn’t be more perrrfect! (said with a west country accent!)
After a fun quiz, tasty food, tearful speeches, and lots more laughing…… everyone headed outside for an evening of fun & games with…… welly wanging, guess the name of the calf & birthday and guess where the cowpat will land!!
As the light began to fade, I was aware that we hadn’t created any portrait shots of Helen & Stuart around the farm… mainly due to letting the day be their’s and earlier time constraints. So I suggested doing just a few more shots of them – and I’m really pleased they agreed. We managed to create some powerful shots of them both using the technique – ‘off camera flash’ – it also gave them chance to brush up on their first dance steps too!
The evening reception was great fun with a huge 13 piece band called… ‘The Loose Cannons’ …they had everyone dancing from the get go, with the last song having them singing & playing in amongst everyone and Helen & Stuart having one very funky last dance!
Thanks again Helen & Stuart – see you soon! xx
A selection of some of my favourites from the day……
The girls out on a day trip – get the best seats for her arrival… so sweet, and it probably made their day!
Whoops a daisy – they get the wrong exit! – though made everyone laugh again!
Apple & Pear tree’s – made for unique thank-you presents for the mum’s!
