Schools Out! – Jessica & Andrew’s Wedding

You may of noticed the roads are less busy this week, and there’s more kids running around during the day!  …why!? …well it’s half term for most children this week.

So what’s this got to do with photography & weddings?… well Jessica & Andrew had a good idea last year while all the kids weren’t in school – they decided to hold their wedding reception in the grounds of a school.

Okay so perhaps Jessica’s mother – Jenny – had a big part to play in it, being the Head Teacher of the school!

But a good idea never the less! …you have plenty of space, amenities, buildings and all sorts of other quirky school things.  The school in question was Barfield School in Runfold, Surrey – which is a lovely old red brick building – with magnificent redwood trees that surround the playing fields.

The day started out pretty overcast, but by the time everyone arrived at the reception – the school was basking in some glorious summer sunshine! …Oh roll on the summer!

Jessica’s dad, sadly couldn’t make it at the last minute and was very ill in hospital… so her granddad walked her down the isle and her mother gave the ‘Father of the Bride’ …speech, or maybe that should be the ‘Mother of the Bride Speech’!  …and considering it was last minute, Jenny delivered a splendid speech and and a very touching one too.

So onto the photos, here’s a few of my favourites from the day…

Thanks again Jessica & Andrew x

Unfortunately… the vicar didn’t allow photography of the ceremony from the front of the church at all, but by being discreet and shooting from the side and the back – I was still able to capture these important special moments of the day.

An old chalk board was used as the table plan, along with these little cute slate & chalk name tags.

Brilliant work again Ben. I love the shots on the log during the bride and groom portrait session and the way you’ve positioned them to take advantage of some beautiful backlighting. I’ve encountered quite a few vicars recently who’ve not allowed photography from the front of the church – a great pity, particularly since once you’re in position it’s equally discreet as being positioned at the back!ReplyCancel
